The National Museum of Antiquities is housed in a historic monumental mansion and begijnhof. It is the Dutch center for archaeology. A large portion of the collection consists of objects related to ancient Egypt. Particularly notable is the two-thousand-year-old Egyptian temple in the central hall of the museum, the only complete Egyptian temple in the Netherlands. In addition to ancient Egypt, the Near East, the Classical world, and early Netherlands are also featured. The entire collection comprises more than 80,000 objects, including sculptures of Roman emperors, Etruscan grave finds, and mummies.
